This design was entered in the 1997 Ausflag Professional Flag Design Competition and Exhibition and was selected by the judges as one of the best 100 designs.

It was voted by the Australian public in 1998 as the eleventh best design in the competition - receiving 513 first preference votes, 406 second preference votes, and 349 third preference votes.
