What's a Skunkworks?

Good question, glad you asked. Before I get to that, welcome to my virtual space!

From 1993 to 1996 I completed my PhD in the Department of Electronics (now the School of Engineering) of the Division of Information and Communication Sciences (now Faculty of Science and Engineering), at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.

During that time, besides grinding out a lot of probability distribution function transformations, I posted a lot of articles to aus.politics. Some of you may remember me.

I was appointed as a Visiting Fellow to the Department of Electronics in May 1997, to maintain a link between the University and Industry.

From 1997 to 2017 I worked in a range of roles at Optus, Australia's second largest telecommunications company. One of the roles was as Manager of the Technology Evolution and Planning group.

Since 2017 I have worked at Telstra. What I do there is top secret, so lets move on...

My computing platform of choice is the Apple Macintosh, particularly because it is a Unix box underneath.

I was also involved in the Australian Republican Movement from 1993, culminating in being a National Committee member up to the 1999 referendum and was NSW Deputy Convener 2000-01.

I've also been active in the debate about our national flag since I was about 12. I have been a Director of Ausflag since 2002, and I've also turned my hand at a few flag designs of my own - some love 'em, some hate 'em. Have a look and have a vote.

Life only happens once. Make the most of it.

Vanity Web

Here's some newspaper, magazine and book articles about stuff I've done. Yeah, some of it is embarassing but what the heck.
